Kit's Digital Artworks
Just some Digital pieces I took the time to put effort into. They are in the order of creation.
My very first digital drawing... a blue dragon:

Xelas, one of my bloodthirsty original characters that loves the companionship of cats:

Kittokyuubi, an entry into a random contest. My rendition of a kyuubi crossed with my own personality.

Magic dragon, a request from the Dragon Cave forum.

Yeah, I fail at people. Gomen. Although I have to say, I am getting better at backdrops....hopefully.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
thanks ^-^
I love drawing fur....it's so fun.... especially when it's on dragons.
But you can only draw fur for so long before it looses it's appeal. Then you break, and return later to finish.
Procrastination for the win!

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
I can't do anything like that with Gimp, mostly becuase I'm not very good at it though. I'm hoping to get hptotoshop eventually, so maybe that will help me.
Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
Gimp IS photoshop to me.
I can't afford to buy photoshop, so I found Gimp, which is basically a free version of photoshop. The controls are pretty much the same, and they have the same tools.
You just have to play around with the controls and after awhile you will fall in love with Gimp.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
I don't really know how to draw things like that. First, I would die trying to draw those scales, no way I would draw that outline so well, the hair is amazing, and all the shading is too much for me.
Edit: Based off the Blue Dragon...

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
lol I suppose the dragons do require a degree of dedication to actual finish X3
A tablet helps as well, though it's not necessary.
You know, those dragons were easier to color then you'd think. I actually broke down my steps for coloring the purple dragon and turned it into a make-shift tutorial with printscreens from mt progress coloring it if you wanted to see it.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
A tablet is a thing that hooks up to your computer. It's lays flat on the desk. It comes with a pen, and when you touch the tip of the pen to the tablet screen, it draws or moves the mouse. It's like the pen's your mouse, and I wish I had one; it would really make my drawing more better; less work and more fun.
Anyway all of them are very beautiful, Kit. Very creative and I love the fur. ^^

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
Thanks Dovewing ^-^
And Dove is right. A tablet is a digital art tool. It isn't impossible to do what I did without a tablet, it just makes life easier. And before you ask, their price can range from anywhere from $100 to $2000 depending on how big and what type you get. (some tablets actually have the screen projected onto their surface, so it's like you're drawing on paper, just digitally.) Mine was a cheaper one without that fancy feature, but it does what it needs to, so life is good.
I lay my tablet on my lap when I use it too... I don't know why....It works better flat, but *shrug* I'm weird.
Here is that tutorial.

I'd love to see anything you make with these steps!
And I do all my digital pieces in Gimp, so lacking photoshop is no excuse lol
I'm still learning myself. That purple dragon image was a huge leap in my background work. Which is sad, considering there isn't much of a background besides just rocks XP
PS: I'm working on another digital piece. A cheetah cub! I'm being super lazy though right now.... I just have to add the fur. I guess I could turn that into a fur tutorial though if you wanted to know how I do fur too.
PPS:
lol twenty minutes of boredom!

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
Ya, I'm very bad with Fur/Feathers. I think I'll try drawing something (probably a dragon) Scanning it and then editing it. Wish me luck!
Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
Fur is fun for me ^-^ My fur technique sometimes requires violent scribbling. So it's very stress relieving XD
It's one of those things that you can't do too much of at once, or else your hand will go numb though. So usually I do a section of fur, work on something else, do next section of fur etc. (blue dragon) OR Do a large patch of fur, and leave it, then return hours later or the next day and do more. (kittokyuubi)
Depends on the amount of fur in the image.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
I'm not sure what tools to use, and how to do it though.
Also, I starrted a dragon, but I left for a while and didn't save it and it was erased.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
That sucks. Something I learned is to save frequently. Gimp has crashed one to many times on me to risk it anymore.
And you use whatever tools you're comfortable with. Usually I use airbrush, but that's just my style.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
I don't have any special programs except MS Paint. So my art comes out all ugly. And I'm working on a chinchilla, and I might try the fur but I bet it'll be all weird and unrealistic like always...
Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
I use MS paint for all my pixel work. I actually just completed a base!
If you want to use it, you an but you have to follow my rules I listed in my Artists comment.

If used properly, MS paint can produce beautiful images.
btw Dove, just so you know, Gimp is a free downloadable program.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
Which is why I asked you if you minded. Anyway sorry. But what features does Gimp have?
Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
bascially, it's a free version of photoshop.
It has layers, patterns, manip tools, transparency, etc. as well as everything that comes in basic paint.

Re: Kit's Digital Artworks
Iy's a great program, I suggest you get it. Although, you can't do a simple line as easy as in paint.
